About Fifth Point
Initially just for kicks, italic and JDT first began writing together their Junior year of high school. Mostly making on-the-nose bangers, the first track released by the two was “Gucci” under the name Dapper Rapper Duo. But as time went on, the two began taking music more seriously and devoting more of their time to it. After a number of features JDT had with italic the two officially formed the group Fifth Point, inspired by both of them residing at Five Points.
Armed with the skills they had built together and a logo sketched on a notecard, the duo released their debut project in 2016. Titled Studio, the project was crafted to showcase their range of styles. Just three months later, they followed it with the EP One Night. Written in a single night and recorded/released the following morning, it was both a celebration of their graduation as well as a flex of their artistic abilities.
After high school the two artists parted ways to go off to college, with italic going to UNC-Charlotte and JDT to Lynchburg College in Virginia. During this time the two focused on their own solo projects, BLACKHOKAGE and The Misfit Priest, while stockpiling a vault of tracks on the side. Upon finishing their years in school, the two met up for several days and put together the romance-themed EP Death Do Us Part, as well as shot music videos for “Backwoods,” “Bad One,” and “Jupiter Jazz” with the help of Tippletine. A long-time friend of italic, Tippletine shot and edited videos, produced beats, made cover art, and secretly rapped.
As 2017 progressed into 2018 and italic and JDT decided to step away from their studies and move together to Norfolk, VA, they were talking more and more with Tippletine and sending songs back and forth. They soon found that all three of them worked rather well together, with italic and JDT making songs on the beats that Tippletine was producing and sending over. This culminated in Tippletine becoming an official member of Fifth Point, the first added since it’s creation. Now working on various solo and collaborative projects with a slew of singles stockpiled, the trio find themselves ready to dive head-first into the music industry. But don’t think that they’ll be stopping there…
